Effect of vegetable residues incorporation on soil fertility, rhizosphere microbial community structure, and plant growth of continuously cropped cucumber in a solar greenhouse

Abstract Purpose Incorporating crop residues into the soil is considered a sustainable and valuable method to alleviate deterioration caused by continuous monoculture in greenhouse production. However, effect of vegetable retention on amendments poorly understood. In present study, we investigated impacts sweet pepper, tomato, cucumber plant microbial communities growth continuously cropped solar greenhouse. Methods The 16S rRNA ITS1 genes were amplified, high-throughput sequencing was performed explore incorporation communities. Additionally, chemical properties, root vigor, fruit yield measured assess growth. Results results showed that incorporating could improve buffering capacity, increase content organic matter available nutrients, increased diversity microorganisms improved community structure; abundance beneficial bacteria such as Actinobacteria , Firmicutes Proteobacteria Chloroflexi while reducing quantity soil-borne pathogens Bacillariophyta Acidobacteria . Similar observed for fungal communities: relative Ascomycota decreased varying degrees, Rozellomycota Basidiomycota raised. demonstrated significantly vigor enhanced yield. effects different types improving properties ordered pepper > tomato residues, 20% had most significant Conclusion summary, returning alleviated cropping obstacles fertility structure microorganisms, consequently promoting greenhouse-grown cucumbers. findings an effective measure amendment during
